& COMPETITION

This year's 2 day event was the Largest Kite Festival & Competition in Southern California in the past 12 years. |

*Mr. Toki is a Japanese national treasure for his master kite designing and building. He was a sponsored guest of Japan America Society. His hand-made kites were on display both days. *David & Susan Gomberg of Gomberg Kite Productions flew several huge
kites both days. A feast for the eyes and imagination! They also decorated
the sky with flow form kites and colorful wind feathers. It was a kite
festival in itself. *J.R. Tolman helped children make Japanese Kimono Kites. J.R. has been
building kites with children and adults for over 20 years. He is well
known in the industry as the best. This was a free event for children
and their parents. J.R. built 250 kites on Saturday and 475 kites on Sunday. *Jim Crane of Signal Hill, California flew his trilobite and his red,
white & blue 250 sq. foot flow form *Crystal Kites - Flew many beautiful kites *Dorothy and Gene Lewandoski came all the way from Ohio to surprise Monty
and decorate the sky by flying their beautiful kites. *Revolution Kites demonstrated their quad line kites and gave free kite
lessons. *The Sundowners are a five-man team that performed a ballet with stacks
of sport kites that have long streaming tails. The Sundowners are world-renowned
flyers that stopped competing and began entertaining the world 10 years
ago. They performed both days *Rod and Marti Milford flew many red, white and blue kites *Everyone that flew in the Mass Ascension received a collectible American
flag pin to honor those who lost their lives on Sept 11th. *Items were raffled off both days. *Team Against the Wind, (Bob & Danielle Fermin) Seal Beach's own champion
kite flyers performed their kite ballet to music both days. They are a
father daughter team who were brought closer through kite flying. We are
all very proud of them. *Carl Hanson of Seal Beach, California performed a Aerial Kite Photography
Demonstration. He is well known for what he does and has won many prestigious
awards. Look for his book at stores soon. *Dancing Frog Designs had a breath-taking display of banners and kites.
*Chris Thompson - Had the entire crowd in stitches with his Ron Despojado
copycat act. *Steve Laporte - Performed his amazing kite circus act. *Ron Despojado's magic show had everyone intrigued both children and
